The SLS process builds parts in layers from Nylon Powder (Duraform™) or Glass Filled Nylon. In addition to the standard 20% & 30% Glass Filled Nylons Texys also offer their unique 23% Glass Filled Nylon12 using their proprietary glass bead filler.

Key BenefitsSLS2000

  • Functional
  • Robust
  • Casting Masters
  • Low Volume Production (e-manufacturing)
  • General Accuracy - Minimum ±0,2mm
    • Plus ±0,2mm / 100mm

How the Process Works

The machine consists of a build platform and powder delivery system; it also has a Laser, a set of Mirrors to position the laser beam, a Nitrogen System, Heaters and various other bits and pieces.

The delivery system consists of two feed cartridges one either side of the build platform and a roller. For each pass (layer) the platform moves down (0,1mm); one of the feed cartridges feeds-up, the roller then traverses across the build platform rolling the powder before it. The roller does not compress the powder, just levels it.

During a Warm-up Stage the heaters increase the temperature in the build chamber for each pass until, on the build platform, this is just below the powder melting point; the machine is now ready to build parts.

For the Build Stage, the software has calculated the cross section of the parts for that layer and the laser proceeds to sinter (melt) the powder; the process then continues with the platform moving to position for the next layer. Parts can be stacked and nested; the powder supports the parts with no additional structure required.

When all the parts have been completed the machine then enters a Cooldown Stage.
